Social Justice Print E-mail

The GVTA Social Justice Committee meets monthly to discuss ways in which the GVTA and individual teachers can make a difference in promoting a fair, just, peaceful and equitable society. This year’s committee members are: Darren Companion, Margy Ransford, James Skwarok and Diane McNally, GVTA first VP. We meet monthly and invite any interested member to come to a meeting and check us out or get involved. We even have vacancies on the committee. Please volunteer and enrich our group.

We usually meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month, except December and June at the GVTA office. If you’d like to come, drop an email to: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or just attend the meeting. The first one is 4:00 - 6:00pm, Tuesday, September 22nd.

Members of the committee are interested in pursuing a variety of social justice issues, but in particular want to focus on local social justice issues, ethical investment of our pension funds, global education projects in schools, peace initiatives, labour issues and combating homophobia and heterosexism.
